Ok so how do you plant a heuchera? Easy, small or large remove plant from pot. Scruff up the roots a bit and place in the nice hole you have dug. Then tamp soil around the plant. Do not plant too low. Plant at the same level as pot. Heuchera can rot if the root ball stays too wet so good soil with good drainage is key.
After a year or two some heuchera can grow up out of their spaces. No worry, either cut it way back pull out some of the parts that are jutting up out of the soil and replant or give to friends. Another option is to dig a few holes around the garden, then dig up your original plant and divide into bits and then replant. If done early spring they will flourish in just a few months. In WA you can do this any month the soil is workable but they will take longer to recover.
Most heuchera can take shade to part shade. Some colors are brighter in more shade and so they are prefect to lighten a dark corner. Some can take full sun BUT after you plant in full sun watch them for a while. They may like it or they may need another home. Generally the darker ones are better for a sunny spot but it depends on your sun.
