Heuchera are great perennials for front of the border. Here is a silver cynara cardunculus, (artichoke thistle) with purple heucheras. The purple heucheras play off the silver beautifully. We put light purple as in 'Creme de Menthe' next to dark purple like 'Amethyst Mist'. We also have used Brunnera 'Jack Frost' and Senecio greyi. Our Memory Garden has a silver and purple area and then a whole other area devoted to the orange, brown and rust colors. If you can wait for your garden to fill in, the first year you can space you heucheras out about two to three feet apart and then the following year divide your plants and plant inbetween.
