I feel like you should know a bit about the person who is writing this blog and why. I am Jenny Gunderson. Bill Raynolds and I own My Garden Nursery in Mill Creek WA. Bill and I are the opposite of each other in every way. I lived in Western WA my whole life and in the very same house almost the entire time. Bill lived in Africa, Russia, Japan, Minnesota, California and Philadelphia and more. Bill swims 5 days a week and plays a lot of tennis and ping pong. No sports for me and I hate any form of exercise. We really saw our differences the first time we visited a park. I saw a magnificent tree, walked over oohing and awing about the bark, the towering canopy, twisted branches etc. I turned around thinking Bill was right beside me and there he is on the ground gently embracing a tiny flower. Picture a 6'3" big burly football player build manly man literary gushing over a minute wild flower. Bill loves flowers of all colors and all sizes. I love trees and foliage.
Sitting in a restaurant, Before we hired our first employee, I created our logo on a tiny piece of paper. The logo represents Bill and me, Bill's 6'3" to my 5'1". The logo is a big tree smiling down at a short flower who is smiling up at the big tree.
Because of my love of trees and foliage plants, I started to buy a few heucheras to sell at My Garden. I soon learned that lots of people share my passion. We added more heucheras, heucherellas and tiarellas. We now have the largest selection of heucheras in the Northwest with over 40 varieties almost every day of the year. We do fun displays and have huge heuchera events and Dan Heims from Terranova himself has done lectures for our customers as they enjoyed a glass of wine.
