Day 4 Heucheras make me happy. Imagine a garden...

Can you imagine a garden where there is color all year? Where you don't have to do a lot of pruning, where the plants don't go through the plain green to beautiful short flower phase and then fade into a bunch of weed like leaves that eventually flop about, turn brown and either need to be cut down or need to stay there which means you are looking at yuck for the next 3 months.

Heucheras are the perfect evergreen perennial. The flowers bring hummingbirds, the foliage is a rainbow of colors that include bronze, chartreuse, gold, red, greens and purples and if they finally outgrow their space they are easily divided and given to friends or planted in other places in your garden.

Heucheras are easy to grow. Give them good drainage. Most want part shade to shade but some will take sun. The jury is still out on how much sun. They will do great in a flower bed or a container. I will do a whole lot on container combinations at a later date.
