Heucheras are the perfect plant for containers. They tend to play well with others and their colors are amazing to use to contrast against other plants. Shown here is an Ipomaea 'Lime', black phormium, Euphorbia 'Diamond Frost' and a variegated Plectranthus. When you place your planter by the door or walkway, you can enjoy the bonus of hummingbirds, who love the flowers. I usualy put 2 or 3 different heucheras in the container with a couple trailers and a large plant for height. Part shade is ideal for most. They will overwinter nicely if under the eaves protected from piles of snow.
