Day 33 Heuchera 'Midnight Rose'

Heuchera 'Midnight Rose' is a sport of 'Obsidian'. It was found at Behnke nursery. Keep your eyes open for little sports, (offsets) that look different from the parent plant. Terra Nova Nurseries might be interested if you find one.

Rose is a vigorous mounding grower but only goes to about 10". Needs very good drainage. The pink flecks emerge in the spring and continue to enlarge and brighten before lightening to cream. I have found it happy in shade or sun. Flowers are cream and loved by hummingbirds. remove as they fade as they really take away from the gorgeous leaves. I remove them all and just enjoy the leaves. Plant where you can see this one like in a tall container with a 'Key Lime Pie' Heuchera to enjoy the leaves fully.
