Heucherella is not a heuchera but a cross of a heuchera and tiarella. Tiarella (foam flower)is another great woodland plant that gets an abundance of white flowers that look like what else? foam. I group the heuchera, heucherella and tiarellas all in a lump. An amazing dazzling lump of unique plants. Brass Lanterns is a favorite. New in late 2009 this one is coppery gold with red closer to the veins. It is sharply lobed and turned a darker olive in winter. It is a fast grower and had no powdery mildew in powdery mildew season. I will write about that at a later date. Heucheras are not perfect. They can get diseases and a few pests like them but anything worth having needs a bit of work. Luckily the heuchera only needs a little bit and yet they give and give every month of the year.

In front is a robust heuchera 'Marmalade' with it's pink undersides and wavy leaves. This one does great in landscapes with hellebores.

Heucheras plus Hellebores = love!
